BICYCLE RULES for the ferry

Trial period in effect 08/18/07

1.     A bicycle will never take the place of a car.  Bicycles are only allowed if there are three or
fewer cars.  If more cars are in line the bicycle will wait.

2.     All bicycle traffic must originate from the Island.  Each bicycle rider or group of riders must
show a guest pass to get on the Ferry both at the Island and at the mainland.  The pass will not
be collected just used as proof that the rider is a island resident or valid guest.

3.     An adult must accompany any bicycle rider under 16 years of age on both the trip off the Island
and back to the Island.  All young bicycle riders not accompanied by an adult must show a valid
drivers license as proof of age.

4.     Riders must remain with their bikes on the barge.

5.     No bicycles will leave the Island after 6 PM.

6.     Bicycle privileges will be revoked if a bicycle rider does not cooperate with the operator or fails
to comply with these rules.

7.     It is up to the bicycle rider to figure out how to signal the ferry operator to pick them up.  We
suggest that all bicycle riders carry a cell phone to call someone on the island if they have trouble
getting back to the island.

  1. These rules should be reviewed and updated annually.
