We are soliciting advertisements
for our directory again this year. If you, your organization, or if you
know of a business or organization that would like their business card
printed in our directory contact
Jack Orr. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SEPTEMBER 17-18. We are in need of
volunteers to help with the Second Annual Diamond Lake Open Water Challenge
on September 18, 2010. If you enjoy being out on the lake and seeing
athletic competitions, this is for you! We have a variety of volunteer
roles -- set-up, greeters, kayak round up, kayak patrol, maintenance of
feeding packets, communications, coffee and snack set up, picnic setup,
clean-up, photographer, race packet preparation and distribution, buoy
placement and retrieval, etc. Last year, the race was a wonderful event for
the lake, and this year it promises to be even better. We're a classy
operation -- our race director is Craig Strong, who just completed USA
Triathlon Race Director training and is an acclaimed swimming and endurance
coach and Iron Man triathlete from Evanston, IL. If interested, please

Anybody need a beer fridge? We kept the fridge from
our old cottage, but haven't used it once since rebuilding! Free to anybody
who wants to come and get it. Visit Chutro's, # 31 on a weekend.

COTTAGE RENTALS IN SEPTEMBER? We are holding the second
annual Diamond Lake Open Water Challenge swimming race on September 18, 2010. A
number of swimmers may be interested in renting your cottage the weekend of the
race. Race participants are amateur athletes of all ages from the
Michigan/Indiana/Illinois who are passionate about open water distance swimming.
Last year, we had two English Channel Swimmers, people from a Masters Swim Club
in Ann Arbor, and a variety of swimmers from the Chicago area, including the
island's own Mike Warner, Jr. Participants are committed swimming enthusiasts
and should be good weekend renters! If interested, please contact Kay Hoogland
